My friend Linsi sent this picture from summer camp and I couldn't resist posting it. One of her favorite bugs is the Red Milkweed Beetle. And, as you can see in this picture, it is a real cutie! It looks almost like it is smiling. This beetle helped me entertain a very homesick child one day. The daycamper was distraught, wanting her mother and by using this beetle and showing her that it talks (it makes a cute squeeky noise if you hold it along its thorax), she soon forgot about Mommy. Whew!!! Thanks Mr. Beetle!
